CHRISTMAS 2025

The “Every Light, A Life” campaign is a tribute to the lives we’ve touched, the heroes who serve, and the precious moments that define us all. In 2024, CRITICAL’s volunteer emergency first responders answered 1,308 emergency medical calls across the country.

This Christmas, we’re honouring every one of those moments. Our goal is to light 1,308 lights, each one symbolising a life reached, a call answered, and a community protected.

Within those 1,308 moments are countless stories like Olivia’s, stories of survival, courage, and extraordinary care.

When Olivia was involved in a devastating accident, it was Dr. Paul Campbell, one of CRITICAL’s Volunteer Doctors, who arrived at the scene. His swift response and expertise were instrumental in saving her life.

Olivia’s story is a powerful reminder of the life-saving importance of emergency response and a testament to her incredible resilience and perseverance:

“When Paul arrived he brought a sense of calm to what was a terrifying situation. He was only a couple of hundred metres away when he got the call and took control straight away.

“I was in shock and had suffered multiple fractures to my pelvis and lower back but Paul brought his medical expertise, pain medication and incredible care.”

“Paul, the paramedics and the fire crews were like my guardian angels that day. Accidents happen every single day of the week and who would you want to be there with your husband, wife or child if something happened? I want that person to have the same access to care that I had. CRITICAL is a voluntary organisation and needs our support to equip volunteers in more locations across Ireland. How special would it feel to help someone in their most vulnerable moment? CRITICAL is doing that through their first responders and emergency medical responders.”
